Knock in cold start up fo 95 Ford Taurus SE

If its a ticking noise Sounds like some sticky lifters. The heads get build up on them over the years and it takes awhile for the oil to get thin (hot) enfo to lube them. The noise is them being dry.

Check out the preheater for the choke circuit. It closes the choke to give a rich mixture at cold start.

Engine start ticking when start up from cold after warm up it stop what the pronlem?

lack of oil to lifters, was a common ford thing back in the 80s, when did you last change the oil? sometimes old oil causes the issue, i had a bronco that would start doing it every 4000 miles unless i changed the oil.. try a thinner oil, 5w30, or 5w20..might fix the problem

This is a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 128000 miles. Engine ticks at about 2300 rpm when warm. Heavier oil reduces tick but does not eliminate. Tick is much less noticable when engine is cold.

the oil pickup tube in the oil pan may be clogging up. as the oil gets hot and thins out , there isn't enough volume coming through the oil pump to keep the enginr quiet. may want to try checking to oil pressure with a manual gauge. also might want to try an engine flush and chang the oil and filter after flushing the engine.MAKE sure if you flush the engine you follow the directions.

Valve tick on one cylinder that tick intermitenly, thicker oil

There was a "Silent Recall" for this problem. Basically the heads, lifters, and cam are all replaced. I had this fixed under the recall on 1995 Pathfinder when it had 44,000 miles on it. Now it has 175,000 and has been had the cold engine noise since 145,000. The ticking is more irritating that it is harmful (Per my mechanic). I don't want to stick 1,000's of dollars into it anymore, tolerance is much cheaper.

You really have to think a bit about when those sometimes are. Is it only when the engine is already warmed up? Is it only when the engine is cold? If you have a tach on the dash, what is the real high idle speed of the engine? How many rpms? Does the transmission shift hard or smoothly?
