Tranny q for a 05 ford f 150 4x4

Hi, i have a 05 f150 4x4, 94 k miles. started it buckle on the drive the other evening. took it to local for dealer. Said I need a new tranny at 3200.00 cost. Dealers tend to be pricey..any other choices, national chains?

Sure it was the tranny and not the accuwaiter switch gone bad on you .smell to see if the fluid has a burnt smell to it .did it show signs of it going .was it wet out that day ? would it go into reverse it should have had something .was the levels right up on it and was it top up with mercon5 not with something else ?

My 1995 Ford F350 Diesel Dualy has a Jasper tranny that won't go into third...could it be the transmission control module? It only has 160K miles on it and just had the tranny serviced.

It could be the module, but you should not just start replacing things without a proper diagnosis. You need to scan the computer for error codes, if no codes exist the problem is likely mechanical and you will have to do further tests on the hydraulic s and transmission electronincs. This is beyond the scope of drive way repair and you may be better having it towed to a local shop.

2004 thunderbird 56000 miles. Car starts hard, it takes three or four tries to get it started. The check engine light is on. I took it to Advance auto and they checked the code, says number two cylinder...

IMHO,if they just charged me $700. i'd drop it off in morning & talk to the service manager/director
car needs to have fuel press tested ect.which im sure were done for the price you paid
but its not fixed!!!
good luck

The tune up is every 100,000 / The transmission and fuel filter is every 30,000 / The air filter is as needed depending on the driving conditions or every 12,000 / Oil changes every 3000 to 5000 miles

Car won't start all the time

if you have over 40,000 miles it's time for you to change the drive belt because if the drive belt is slipping it will cause the voltage to drop in your alternatior and at the same time this will not charge the battery completely

Odometer discrepincy

It is actually impossible to change the mileage on that odometer. The ONLY way to insert a new mileage number is to completly replace the insturment cluster, and reprogram the mileage with the GM scan tool. Once the car has even .1 miles on it, you can not change the clusters mileage.

CVT Tranny

I work at a Ford dealer and we have seen very little trouble with this trans-axle. We replaced a mectronics unit in one and replaced one complete assembly, other then that we have had no trouble with them and personally would have no fear of buying one.
