Problem Codes I have 3 codes showing. They are 12,45 and 55. Could you tell me what they are? I have the exact same codes except mine is a '96 cherokee. I have most codes posted in my manual except for code 45. Is it the same in this year?

Does all lights on car work and radio, bright head lights.?
cranks robustly, ?
spark good,? ECU cuts fuel any time one of 3 park failures, fail.?
so, spark is next.
then if spark is ok then we try test fuel. (spray )0if that fails, cam belt fell off or lost time on cam, every 60k happens.(spec)

if runs and sounds ok on test fuel, good.
crank engine for 5 full seconds, release key does the scan tool show errors. NOW? it will if those 3 spark things above, are failing.
even a dead tacho line can kill all injections.
or if TPS outputpin stuck at 5v due to ground wire to it cut,at TPS,

ok now the relay.
ECU does ground the coil (see schematic?)
but only for 3 seconds, keyon, (repeats key on).
then turns off (all G16s 91+ do that 3 sec rule.)
then the relay closes, cranking full time. look now, 96 relay is on the heater box, behind the glove box, the pink wires are BINGO FUEL.

if that works 12v on pinkk, then check fuel pressure
is car a 2 door? if 2doors, the pit behind left rear tail light
see g402 ground that is pump ground and loves to rust there.(kills pump dead)
as does the pink wires there (rust), (connectors)
see 96 ecu schematic here.

read the pump page.
got 34psi

What is meaning of p1492code it is obd code

wow, no car maker stated, no year, (96'+?) and no car model.
and no engine stated, so all answers will be wild guessing. (MINE TOO)! no country stated either.....
meaning now that opens an endless book, huh
3 years off ASE training ,all typed here? 50 years experience. .
here are some small hints.
this is called OBD2 monitors.
and monitor runs full time key on and more running. (like a nanny)
it sees errors and reports them, .
the ASE Tech looks them up in the FSM for this exact car, not others
and finds out what the test does, and why it fails. (test specs)
those are the basic ROPE'S. (and reset it and see if it comes back)
p1 is a factory code not unversal federal P0 codes....
so only the correct book works. is best ,IMO.

using google we see the warnings, do not guess at maker names.
and shows, not to guess what it means, P1 means that.
P1492 JEEP
P1492 SUBARU by no means a complete list.

P1382 refer to technical manual

no engine stated, there are 3 . which one, each works different.

p1 means factory code, never use other makers codes for P1xxx
ever, use JEEP.
rule 1 , stated.
never use google to look them up, unless filtered hard for JEEP & engine exact !
rule 2 stated
i state this because others read this stuff......
just sold my 99, (owned many a jeep) mine was I6 -4.0L engine.
1382, factory code, no engine, stated or tranny stated.
who pulled this code? you, autozoned or?
i cant find it.

make real sure its 1382, look again, and some scan tools
(most the cheap ones) can get factory P1 codes right.
a rule 3 thing.
i see google shows near nothing, so that tells me your code is bad
i do google to see if others had it... i do but dont trust 99% of the answers.

scan it with a real scan tool
you can rent them dirt cheap.
some are loaned at the major car parts stores, nice ones.

Mass flow air sensor failure

Question one... What kinda vehicle do y'all have 2.) when the mechanic told ya it was a MAF sensor did he use a computer to tell you this by reading the codes? 3.) after Installing the other MAF sensor did you reset the vehicles computer. I have came across a few vehicles that even after the new part was installed the on board computer will still read in something "like" a safe mode and will not automatically reset itself. Hope this general info helps

While driving my 96 sunfire it sputters almost stalls then goes again, what do you suggest to do

First off have the ODBII engine codes read out. It will probably tell you that one or more of the following has a code:
1. O2 sensor Bank 1
2. Mass air flow sensor problem
3. Throttle position sensor problem.
4. EGR Valve problem

The OBDII codes will tell you which one it is.
My bet is either 2 or 3 above but would have to read codes first.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Decifering the "build" codes on Toyota Tacoma

I would call the dealer parts dept. they should be able to tell you what you need to know. there may be a difference in gear ratio for each engine/ trans combination. A salvage yard may be able to help you , they should have a computer system showing what rear is compatible. there should be a code on the axle housing itself.

Codes p0402 and p1443 96 ranger

this means exactly what it says, the emission control valve is faulty and needs replacing.
Basically the valve is in an open position when it should be shut or partially shut.
Replace the valve and this should cure both codes.

1998 Ford E-250. Rough idle/hesitating at idle. Drives fine. Check engine light on. Shows

Hi, since the check engine light (CEL) is on you need to get the trouble codes read. Most auto parts stores will do this for free. If there isn't one nearby, any shop should be able to read it (for a charge) or you could buy your own code reader.

The code(s) you'll get will be in the format PXXXX like P0171 or similar. Once you have the codes you can look them up here to get a description -

Or post the codes back here and we'll help you out. The next step is to get those codes though so you know exactly which areas of the engine to concentrate your diagnosis efforts on. Good luck!
