2000 jeep cherokee engine knock additional info

Additional information for previous question it sounds like the knock is coming from underneath the engine at idle, the oil pressure is fine, the car doesn't seem to be lacking power - granted i have not put my foot into it. - any additional info?

Hi I had a proglen with my jeep where it would rev up to 2000 then power would fall off and it turned out to be No. 1 injector which has a wire coming out of it this sets the timing in the ECU you need to check the resistance on the wire if its zero its the injector at fault

Hi there i have a jeep cherokee 2.5td 2000 model struggles with bottom end power, was running fine until i had fuel filter, oil, and oil filter changed, been on dianostics but nothing showing,so i took it to jeep maindealer and they traced problem back to faulty feul injection pump so i changed that along with a new fuel filter and it is excatly the same struggling to get over 3000rpm, now the injectors are starting to leak. Any help would be very grateful cheers

This could be a piston rod or, crank shaft issue considering the location of the sound.

Knocking noise

First confirm the oil level is adequate by checking the dip stick. If the oil level is okay you may have a partial blockage that is starving the oil line leading to the sensor. Missed regularly scheduled oil changes may result in this happening.
If sludge is the problem your dealer can recommend an oil additive that may clear out the problem.
You may also have a failed sensor as well.

Have a knock in my 2000 2.5 jeep cherokee just had the head rebuilt new lifters and pushrods can't ajust rockerarm it's torque to the right setting

I'm not sure where your knock is coming from, but If you rev your engine up and the knock becomes faster and louder you may have a bad rod bearing. If this is the case and you haven't ran your engine too much it is possible to put a new set of bearings in it and you'll be ready to go. But it is possible that you have spun a bearing and the crank would be ruined. Hope that's not where your knock is. Hope this helps, Jeff Horton

2000 gc lmtd-recently heard something knocking sounded like something loose, checked oil and was completely out...put oil in and right away the knocking went away but soon after the knocking came...

I'm going to tell you what you don't want to hear. Once you run it out of oil or excessively low on oil to the point that it's knocking you likely (99%) have damaged the engine rod and main bearings as well as the oil pump (possibly other internal parts as well).
you could try using a good viscosity improver like lucas additive but generally it won't help with that kind of problem. Best option is a good engine from a scrapyard....expensive, but less than a rebuild.
Wish I could tell you to push a little red button somewhere and it will be fine but in reality, oil is like your blood...Run out of it and the engine is dead.

2000 Jeep Cherokee suddenly looses traction

Sounds like the transmission is slipping. Check the transmission fluid level and top off as needed. If the problem is not severe, an additive such as Lucas transmission additive may help.

Go to Checker, Autozone...or similar. Ask them to reset the check engine light and read the error code. There is no charge and its often something small. Spark plug misfire, fuel filter, PVC valve, or such.

My 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport started having a rythmic knocking sound while I was towing about 800 pounds on a trailer over the weekend. I hoped it was low on oil, so I added 3 quarts. However, the sound...

3 Quarts? If you had to add three quarts you probable burned out your Crank bearings. Make sure you did didn't overfill the oil. Change your oil and add some additive to it. If it still knocks, it's probably your bearing. Pull engine, replace crankshaft and rod/main bearings.
