Cant take apart the dash! I started at the top of the the dash where the clock is and worked my way down. When you get down between the radio and the temp. controls there is two screws that you have to go behind the dash to get to them...

how do i get to these screws to install the new radio?

I have a 2000 but it should be the same....start at where the e - brake is, there is a little place where the rubber is on the ebrake where you can get under the plastic. Gently pry that up, that will remove that whole part (you will have to disconnect the cig lighter to move it completely off)
Next remove both the temperature knob and the one that selects air fow, behind those you will find two screws remove both of these and then that will pull off and then your at the radio, i don't remember if you need a tool to get it out or not but start from the bottome not the top!

2004 volkswagon beatle; 2 questions - does stock stereo need to be installed to properly run dignostics, what might be causing the windows and top not to roll down

1. No the stock stereo does not have to be installed to properly run diagnostic
A stereo is not any safety or engine component and the scanner does not test that.

2.I would assume a relay under the hood or perhaps a few fuses.

I am trying to install an aftermarket cd/radio into a 2001 Toyota Corolla GS which has a standard radio console

I would get a stereo installation kit for your car from Auto Zone or a local car audio store. It will have the surround for the new stereo to fit where the old one was and a harness that you can wire the new stereo to and the harness will have a plug to match the stock radio plug.

I am installling a subwoofer in a celica

Your stock stereo doesn't not have RCA Pre-outs, to plug into the amp, which powers your sub, so pick out a good stereo, and email me with the details.
