Question about 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage

1 Answer

Install new stereo

Does anyone know how to get the original stereo removed from the Mirage 2000? I want to get a DVD/GPS in-dash 2-din to replace the original one, but I have no idea how to get it out to even get in there, not to mention to get the new wiring correctly installed.

1) disconnect the negative battery cable
2) remove panel from around radio. On some models the panel is held on with screws. On others use a plastic trim tool to pry the lower part of the radio panel loose.
3) remove the radio mounting bracker screws. These are located on the side of the bracket that houses your stereo.
4) slide the radio out of the instrument panel and disconnect the wiring harness and antenna cable.
5) remove mounting brackets from radio
It may also be helpful to tag all wires before disconnecting them.

Want to remove double din stereo in honda stream rn6 2007 rsz?

Don't know if this will help. but the radio is often clicked into place and needs a special tool to remove it from the dash.
See If there are two holes either side of the radio just above and below the tuning button and on the other side above and below the volume button.
If so, make a special tool using a wire coat hanger. Cut two lengths of about 30 cm (12 inches) long and bend them over double. Push the two ends of each into the holes in the radio until you feel the release pins lift, then gently pull the radio out.
Maybe it doesn't work for your radio, just hoping> . . .

No real problem. I'm wanting to replace my stereo. It's asking me if it's a 1 din or 2 din. I don't know what this means or what I have. I'm guessing it has something to do with size. How do I find that...

The Silverado actually has a 1.5 DIN radio stock. If you're looking to replace it you'll need a mounting kit to convert either to 1 din or double din depending on which stereo you want to use.

How can i replace the manufacture radio in my car and replace it with aftermarket car stereo

You best bet, because of a warranty, is to have a professional shop install your stereo. But if you are like all of us guru's here, you like to get your hands dirty.

First you need to remove the dash around your factory stereo. Be patient here and try not to break any of the dash. You may need to remove screws and pop loose plastic retainers located on the backside of the dash.

Wire the after market stereo to the harness located below by maching the colors provided. Thank the stereo companies for making this simple. Use crimp connectors or solder your connections, which ever best suits you. Tape up any remaining wires with eectrical to minimize the chance of a short.

Take the metal sleeve provided by the sereo you choose and install it into the install kit located below. Once you have removed the factory stereo, test fit the install kit and attach any tabs neccessary provided by the kit.

Now take the aftermarket stereo and place into the sleeve you installe din the install kit until it clicks into its locks. Now, the harness you wired up earlier, plug it into the factory harness and then into you stereo. Hook up the antenna, you may need to purchase a antenna adapter. Now before you install the stereo, do a test run to make sure everything is working. Once you are content that it is all working, install the new stereo and then reverse the steps in removing the dash panel and stereo.

Car radio install

There should be an actual wire harness for radio back in there somewhere, maybe tied up or bundled up, just have to find it, then buy from stereo or automotive supply place, an adapter that will go from factory plug to your other stereo, and it will make installation much, much easier.
