The ignition coil would not make the engine sieze up, more likley that the car had no oli or the heatgasket caused this

05 ford ranger started knocking and shut off now won't crank. What is wrong?

Started knocking and shut off ? Now will not start?
That sounds bad - check fluids - engine oil and coolant - those three symptoms can indicate overheating (either by lack of coolant or engine oil).
Did either fluid get low AND does the engine oil look contaminated - milky colored and way overful.
Not Start? Does it turn the engine and just not fire up running?
Or does the engine not turn over at all?
If the engine is siezed - you can tell by the electrical power needed to crank the engine - turn on the lights and try to crank the engine - if all you hear from the starter is a click and all the lights dim - that means a lot of power is needed like:
1. the battery doesn't have enough power - jump start to verify
2. or it requires more power to turn the engine than the battery can provide - engine siezed - try turning the engine by hand with socket/wrench to verify.
I hope your engine is not siezed - if so - hope you still have warranty coverage on the powertrain.
Please let me know what you find and if this helps?

Removing Plug Wires from '02 Pontiac Grand Prix, 3.8 Liter V6

often times the connection inside the plug boot gets corroded and it's almost impossible to remove the wires with out damage. when this happens I gennerally replace the wires anyway this saves you problems in the long run . the sparkplug wire removalk pliers are a good investment however they are only as good if the boots themselves are not siezed up on the plugs. I have had this happen alot over the 20 years i been working on vehicles. I usually just twist and pull on the boots till they come off and not worry about damaging them because they should get replaced anyway the new plug wires have a antiseize lubricant to keep from this happening in the future

How to replace spark plugs on 2005 ford expedition

Each plug has it's own ignition coil. Remove the bolt from the coil and pull with a twisting motion. Be sure not to lose the spring inside the boot. If I remember right these plugs are 9/16. If you have an air comressor, be sure to blow any debris out of the hole before removing the plug.Don't forget the anti-sieze and dielectric grease when reinstalling. Hope this helps.

hi have you checked the timing belt? this might have broken, the other thing these are renouned for is if you get water into the air filter this will sieze the engine also, so if you have driven through a big puddle recently this might be the cause, other than that something might have broke inside the engine, and to be honest the list would be never ending, could be....piston broken, piston rings broken, crank bearing siezed, big end broken, valve snaped, and it goes on...

Oil press stop car

Change the oil pressure switch but what is the engine mileage, condition and servicing. Is it a siezing oil pump leading to a siezed engine.Start the car and remove the oil cap, a mist or spray of oil may come out indicating the pump is okay so to speak and on steady idle may blow more out.If thats the case then it may be the switch only but given the age and possibly a high miler it may be the oil pump and bearing in mind these cars had oil trouble from new because of wrong oil grade being used in the factory and the specification being changed from standard oil to part or fully synthetic to prevent standard oil turning too a greasy paste like substance that led to siezed new engines after a year or 2.

Is your heat riser siezed? If it is siezed closed you have too much back pressure. You will need to free it up. To do this you may have to take the exhaust manifold off as it is situated in it. Use heat & WD40 to free it up. Good luck!

Location of sparks plugs

For Jeep Cherokees with a 4.0 engine; (if you are standing in front of the vehicle looking back at the engine compartment) the spark plugs are on the left side / the same side as your battery. What look like spark plugs on the right side of the engine are actually your fuel injectors. On the exact opposite side of the engine block, all 6 spark plugs are held in place with a long rectangular box (called a coil pack) that has 3 small raised boxes on it. The coil pack is the length of the engine block and about 1 1/2 wide. There are 4 large approx 1/2 bolts that hold this coil pack in place. There is a plug on the back end / closest to the fire wall where you can upplug this coil pack but I couldn't unplug it.
Simply, remove the 4 bolts holding the coil pack in place, lift the coil pack away from the engine block and the spark plugs are exposed. The boots that attach to the spark plugs are "fixed" in to the coil pack. Replace your spark plugs some type of using anti-sieze compound, adjust your gap, and torque to 19 lbs. NOTE: use dielectric grease on plug boots and coil pack ends of wires. can also be used on plug in bulbs.
The above answer is great but if they are platnum plugs dont bother setting gap because you usually don't get a spec anyways and you do more harm than good. The gap is preset.

Alternator belt

Hi

Either you have a siezed or partially siezed idler pulley, tensioner pulley, or ancilliary device (alternator, PAS pump, aircon compressor, etc), a weak tensioner spring on the auto tensioner, or the belt is running out of true.

Or

There is a bolt or something similar protruding into the area of the belt and wearing its way through it.

Regards

Geordie
