Question about 2002 Mazda Miata
I have a 1993 Mazda Eunos Roadster, I have recently found a water leak on it. I am definately no mechanic and can only describe the leak coming from the following place....... on the right hand side of the thermostat housing there is a pipe approx 10mm dia and this seems to connect to the engine block via a fixing to the engine. I have taken the pipe off from both ends and this is ok, but the leak is on the bend of the fixing that is attatched to the engine block. It seems as this has corroded, and I wondered if anyone could tell me if I can obtain this fixing and if so how easy it is to fix ???
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
That's the bypass hose connector. It should be bolted to the motor. If so u can obtain the connector & gasket (if it has one) from the dealer. Before u remove it, remove the rad cap to release any pressure from the system & u will lose less coolant. Don't forget to refill the coolant upon repair. Good luck

I'm assuming no-one deliberately added petrol to the cooling water. You'll probably find there's a heap of oil in there too. It sounds like you've got a cracked head or a dead head gasket. Pull the head off and check. You could also do a leak-down test or a compression test to try and tell where the problem is.
A note on the side - the car probably overheated BEFORE the oil/petrol leaked into the coolant. If you continued to try to run the car, the overheating would have got worse and worse - resulting in a crack or the gasket being destroyed.
If you're not mechanically minded, you've probably got a rather large problem on your hands and need to get someone else to look at it.
Sorry to give you bad news...
