Question about 1997 Volkswagen Golf

VW Golf Sensor problem?

We have just purchased (privately) my sons first car, this is a 1.4 Volkswagen P registration. Today the car would not start it turns on but struggles to start. His girlfriends father seems to feel that it is the sensor. My son drove it home but if you go under 3 revs it cuts out, so you really need to put your foot down on the accelerator for the car to work. Has anyone come across this problem before? Unfortunately we have spent all of his savings on the car - but if we could get some idea of repair costs for this type of problem it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Maxine.

f it is the sensor, it is located in thermostat housing on front of cylinder head. Part very expersive, and takes only a few minutes to replace. Sensor is colour coded, so be sue you replace it with same colour as one you removed
Best of luck

How to replace temperature sensor in vW golf citi 1.4i 2006

I am driving VW Citi golf sport 1.4i,every morning whn is cold my car couldn't start, after many attempts it would and when I try to accelerate it will choke. After buying the temperature sensor my problem was solved. the mechanics advised me to buy petrol filter and petrol gauge regulator and a petrol pump, thanks I didn't buy them. Only a temperature sensor made my car a comfortable drive.

The parts aren't really that expensive, it's the labor these places charge an hour. Call around and see who can do it the cheapest, unless you want to do it your self.
