Put number 1 cylinder at top dead center then put rotor on distrib to just above cylinder one on the cap. place in. when it fits in firm it should be pointing at cylinder one on the cap of the distrib. if it isnt lined up right pull out distrib again and set alittle furth so when it slides in it points right at 1. as well as the top dead of cylinder one has to be on the compression stroke. so make sure it is on that stroke. by checking the compression. that should fix ya up nicely.

93 mustang dies no apparent reason

Not sure if you fixed your stall issues but....have you looked at the pip signal on your fox mustang? My 1987 mustang gt was doing the same thing it got to the point where the car failed to start. It was the pip sensor located in the distributor. I removed the distributor and took out the pip sensor replaced it with a oem replacement re-timed the car its ran great since. I also went to the boneyard and grabbed a few tfi and installed one on my distributor most mechanics suggest you do this when you replace the pip sensor. Hope this helps someone dealing with this issue on there 87-95 mustang gt. Took me about 45 minutes

I have a 66 Mustang with a 289/2b, I cant get her to idle while in drive. If I shift to N or P she idles fine.

Sounds as though you have a vacuum problem...check your hoses to and from the carb...

Vaccum Line problems?... or Warped head?

I would check the coil, when it stalls, check to see if you have spark at the plugs. I don't think a warped head would cause that problem.

Headliner install in 66 mustang coupe

Remove windshield and rear window to do it properly. Headliner is actually crimped in between window gaskets and roof edge. Not a job for the faint at heart. If you don't know the string trick to get your gaskets in place you'll be working on it this time next year. Look on CJ Pony parts web site. They used to have a good tech article on headliner replacement. Hope this helps...

Poured oil into power steering for 66 mustang. It normally uses F type transmission oil. Do I need to drain it? Will it damage power steering

Thankfully it wouldn't damage anything. However it is a messy job to drain the fluid back out. Either a shop can do it for you, or you can simply remove the return line and place it into a bucket. Turn it by hand to get most of the fluids out. Replace with cheap Type F, since you'll probably have to do it a few times to completely replace the fluid. Make sure its all red (Type F) or clear (Powersteering fluid). Good Luck
