Question about 2002 Kia Sedona
I have a power loss with my kia sedona 2.9crdi. when pulling away in 1st gear it has a lot of black smoke out of the exhaust. it is slightly worse when the engine is cold .i have changed the fuel filter, checked the egr valve, the turbo has been checked (although it seems to have lost its "whistle"),The air mass flow meter has been changed.Air cooler is ok.It has blocked/ choked the cat with dust but i have removed this from the system whilst trying to find the cause.I dont think it is the injectors as it is an intermittant fault. It has been on a kia diagnostic machine showing no electric faults. and i have also been in the fuel tank looking for filings but it was clean.Do you have any ideas what to check next and does it have and electric fuel pump? if not how does it maintain the fuel pressure for the common rail?
Basically, a bad EGR valve should be replaced http://www.car-stuff.com/carparts/fordf-250superduty20002004motorcraftmicx1721151326.html

there is a sensor fitted to the commen rail itself.. you have to remove all the black plastic and the intercooler from the top of the engine to get to it

check the air intake hose for cracks between MAF sensor and the intake. very common to crack underneath and cause the engine to set various engine codes.
