Question about 1998 Chevrolet K1500
I have an 04 that is having some heating issues. Rear blows cold air, front blows below luke warm air. I noticed once I am going the heat warms up, but I noticed if I go through a drive-thru the air becomes below luke warm again. I have had it to the dealer 3 times and they are unable to locate the problem. I have 4 children taht are constantly stating they are cold. What the heck is going on with the heating system in these Tahoe's? I noticed my thermostat gauge reading a little above normal yesterday. So I am having my husband switch out my thermostat. Just maybe this might fix this issue. If not, then I will be taking it back to the dealer for them to find out what the heck is going on with it! Frustrating!
Did you open the radiator cap and make sure the radiator is full of coolant? Sometimes the hose from the coolant reservoir to the radiator becomes plugged, and the radiator will become low on coolant even when the plastic reservoir is full. Low water levels will prevent the coolant system from getting hot water from the engine to the radiator or heater cores. This will cause the engine to run hotter while the heater appears to not be working.
