Question about 2005 Chevrolet Impala
The car is stuck where I parked it the steering wheel did not lock in position and now I can't get the car to start.
SOURCE: I cant get the key
I cant get the key out or lock steering column and the automatic transmission shift lever locks up in park.
Now if I take the battery off every thing works fine.
This sure seems like a reset problem.I run the car by not having it in the locked column position and get the shifter to work by putting a key in the hole furnished
by chevy to bypass shift lock. thank you

SOURCE: 1986 Buick Electra/Park Ave has
There are three bolts under everything that you see. The steering wheel comes off first, then the retainer ring has to come off(it's on the same steem that the wheel is on,there is a tool for that). There is a plate with slots in it that will come off. Pull everything else out carefuly as not to lose any screws or break any wires, and you should see the three screws in a triangle formation. Tightin them & reasemble.

When they did the alignment it's possible that they used a tool that locks the steering wheel straight while it's on the alignment rack.If they put too much pressure on the wheel when they used the steering wheel seat lock tool it may have stressed you tilt lock mech causing it not to lock where you want it.Hope this helps

You are going to have to pry it over the axle on one side of the park brake shoe assembly with either a pry bar or screwdriver. then just pop the new one back over the axle in the same way. Hope this helps
