Question about 1992 Dodge Ram 350

1 Answer

I have a 1992 power ram 350 4x4. the truck has 80,000 miles on it and it was a city truck. the engine has a rough idle- ive given it a tune up and it still acts the same, @ a 1/4 throttle down the engine stalls,(its tbi) i have to pump the throttle to get it going again. the automatic transmission has overdrive and has been recently overhauled-to what extent, i have no idea, but, the overdrive kicks in late and real hard. the truck vibrates at higher rpm shifting between gears- could this be an off-balance driveshaft? i love the truck and eventually want to put aluminum heads, a higher cam, and possibly a four barrel. im trying to make this truck as "bulletproof" as possible, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks!

1992 toyota truck running rough

Could be the injectors. You would need to figure out which cylinder is weak, and then why. Have you replaced the fuel filter in the past 12 months ?

1992 toyota truck running rough

The reason for the problem can be faulty fuel injectors, clogged air filter, faulty ignition coil, and many more or none of these. These are just assumptions for the problem. The real problem may be something else, so I would suggest you to get your ride checked for the error code and then update your answer indicating error code.

Check/clean the MAP sensor and throttle position sensor. This should fix the issue. Its a common problem with Chrysler products.

if you have cruise ensure that isn't interfering with the throttle linkgae near the engine above the injector pump. could be injector pump giving you issues.

01 dodge running rough at idle and poor driving performance

did u try turning the distributor??? if u did u need to take it to a shop and have the cam sync reset with a scanner, turning the distributor on those engines DOES NOT change many miles on this truck?? over time the dist. gear weares and it can also change the cam sync, also look at the little vacuum port on the passenger side of the intake manifold and see if the rubber plug or hose is missing off of it,also does this truck consume oil?? if it does it could also be your problem,a pan on the bottom of the intake manifold leaks and that could cause yur problem also,to test for that simply put your thumbs over the holes in the valve covers with it running..if it sucks yur thumbs in, that gasket needs to be replaced and it will also cut down or stop your oil use, hope this helps

22 re rough idle and seems to be bad mileage

if your exhaust system is not up to factory spec this will cause idle and rough running conditions,as well as the poor fuel economy, this is due to the sensors not getting accurate readings and sending skewed info to the onboard computer, (the exhaust system has as many as 3 sensors, although i think yours has only one, if you can also remove the catylitic converter, you will get more power./better fuel economy

Rough idling and poor fuel economy on 92ford f-150

This whole problem is most likey due to a sludged up intake and idle speed control valve, do the following procedure and it should take care of the problems, also run a couple of cans of LUCUS brand fuel injector cleaner through, I know u will see it is more expensive than other brands, but the thing is it works!
Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls at stops and low erratic idle speed and rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake
