Adding a radio w/ remote changer to a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I just bought a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It came with radio and CD player in dash but an option for the 2004 model was a remote changer. Is the wiring already in place from manufacturing or would I need new wiring to add? I have found a used unit but am not sure all necesarry wiring is in place.

In most cases the wiring is already there, it is cheaper for the manufacturer to use one harness than many different ones, I know this is true on GM and Ford, should be the same with Chrysler products as well.

My Cd player in my 2004 Jeep grand cherokee laredo wont eject the cd. It recognizes that there is a cd there and will even play the cd when i press the mode button but it wont eject it. Any help is...

I have an 05 jeep grand cherokee and the other day when I went to hit the the eject button on the CD player it automatically went straight to the radio. After I restarted the vehicle I could hit mode and it would begin to play the cd again but if I tried to hit eject it would go to the radio again. It doesnt have a disc changer and everything else on the factory head unit is working find, the radio, all that stuff. I didnt want to start tearing things apart or trying to dig it out. I have sees some others with the same problem on here, but the answer are like "dig in there with tweezers" and I dont think thats the best possible way to solve the problem. Any Ideas?

The in-trunk units have a tendancy to go bad. you can take the cover plastic interior cover off to access the CD changer, un bolt the changer, and visualy inspect the two rollers for debris, or missing /broken gears that move the rollers to take the CD from the CD cartrage to the player. if that looks fine, chances are that the laser went bad (common in rear mount units) and you can order a new one from Jeep, or you can remove it and update the in-dash head to an aftermarket of your choice (& yes you steering wheel controls will still work). you could also fit a more modern MP3 unit where the Changer was.

The cd player in my 1997 jeep grand cherokee is not working. is there a fuse on the unit for the cd player? how do I remove the radio?

yes. check the fuses in the dash before you do this tho. The fuses in the dash will go out before the one in the stereo will. Hope this helps and saves some trouble.
