Question about 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 4WD
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Sport. I was doing some work to my battery and my radio locked out. I put a code in that I thought it would be and after 3 codes it would not let me add anymore codes. I took my vehicle to the dealership(no charge) and he went in and got the serial numbers off of the radio and looked into his computer and gave me the code. Of course the radio was locked out. He told me I had to have the ignition turned on for 30-45 minutes and the radio would reset for me to put the code in. I let it sit in the garage for an hour and went back out and it worked. I just put the code it.

I have a Mitsubshi Montero Sport and just recently had the same problem. In the manual booklet that comes with the vehical there should be a little card. On the card there is a 4-digit code. Use your 1,2,3,4 buttons on the radio to navigate to the numbers. Once all 4 numbers are put in press CD. When you press CD you radio will come on with AM station playing. From there if you want to go to FM you press the FM/AM buttom. The only bad part is you will have to reset all of you preset radio stations. But this is what I did and my radio worked.
The card with the code on it was a little red card. I am not sure if all Mitsubshi Montero Sports come with a "red" card but there is a card with a code on it in your manual booklet.

Sorry mate, that is one you have to go to the dealer to get... if you can get the front trim plate off, so you can at least see top of the radio itself, you can write down the serial number. Some dealers will try to charge you an hour labor saying they have to pull the radio to get the serial number, to give you the code, but if you have the serial number, all they have to do is type it into their computer, and it will spit out the code.
