Question about 2002 Ford F150 Regular Cab

1 Answer

2002 Frod F150 will not start sometimes

I have a 2002 Ford F150 extended cab and I recently replaced the battery. Yet sometimes the truck starts and sometimes it won't. There have been a few times when jumping the truck is hard and still does not want to start. After several tries the vehicle will start. When trying to start the truck all dash boards light are on yet there is a clicking sound when the truck treis to turn over. The are now check enging lights that come on either. Is this a connection problem, starter or alternator problem.

Why my ford don't start anytime..sometime he does and other dont'

To be quite honest, this still sounds like a battery/ electrical problem even though you have a new battery..

Make sure the leads are clean where they connect onto the battery (obviously)

Also check and clean the earth lead where it connects to the body/engine

A poor/corroded earth will cause starting problems

Check all the earthing points on your vehicle - engine to body - and clean them with abrasive paper if rusty or corroded.

Also check the condition of the battery cables themselves. Corrosion and/or broken wires can cause starting problems:

Check your ground. If you don't have a good ground even a the battery terminal that's the symtem it will give. I hope it's that easy. That's where I would start. I hope this helps and good luck.

No heat in cab f150 2002 extended cab the gauge shows that the engine is warm.

Check the antifreeze protection. Has it been more than 2 years since you changed it? If there's too much water, you need to add antifreeze. Or,you may need to replace the thermostat.

2002 ford f150 clicks but will not start. just changed alternator is it the starter?

Sounds like a low battery, did you put a battery charger on after changing the alternator ? Check the DC voltage on the battery at rest, anything less than 12/5 VDC is a discharged battery. At less than 124 VDC, sulfation can start to happen. If this goes on long enough, the sulfation can impede the alternators ability to charge the battery, and cause damage to the alternator.
