Re: stalling at lights
Did you replace the fuel pump because of the problem? Or did the problem start after replacing the fuel pump? If it started happening after you replaced the fuel pump, take it back to the place you had it repaired (or if you did it yourself take a look) and ask them if there may be a loose connection or a leak that might allow air into the fuel system. Also, replacing the fuel filter might fix the problem as well.

Did you replace the fuel filter when you replaced the pump ? Was it running rough before the pump was replaced. Did you replace the cap and rotor too ? "Sucking a ton of air" could be a vac leak, or the sound of the throttle open when the engine is bogging down. Is the check engine light on when it is running ?
The 1995 Grand Am was GM's worst nightmare. At 120,000 the transmission is going to just blatantly fail on you w/out notice. Problems with this make and model is if it was created between 1995-96 the transmission problems are goin to start. Even if you swap the crankshaft sensor, ignition module, and coils. I had one go at the mileage i just submitted. The computer also has malfunctions. It is indeed time to rid your vehicle, Sorry. Thnx 4 using fixya.com :-)
This is most common with Gm cars your torque converter switch is sticking.and keeping your torque converter applied . you can unplug the converter and try it.its a square plug on the front of your transmission.just unplug it and drive the car it turns the torque converter off. but you should have it repaired for it may cause your check engine light to come on phil
