Locks not working properly

The locks on my 02 ford explorer are not working properly. when the key is out of the egnition i cannot use the drivers side lock/unlock button (the passenger, and rear hatch work fine). the keyless entry pad will only allow me to unlock the doors, but i cannot use it to lock the doors. any idea what may cause this?

Been there ------open up the rubber connector between the drivers door and the body [by the door hinges ] the wires break from flexing. just solder or **** connector them back together. it helps to add some wire to one of the broken ends to make it easier to connect . there may be more than 1 wire broken

Did you try programming the key fob? Your owners manual has this info. I don't know if programming will help or not? Just a thought. should have your owners manual, if you don't have one,you can read it for free.

1998 4x4 ford explore driver side door will not

There are long linkage rods from the inside handle to the latch assembly. There should be an adjustment on these links. Too tight keeps latch from locking, too loose it won't unlatch. Use a screw driver or rod to trip the latch asm so you don't have to keep opening and closing the door. Also if it sticks closed and won't unlatch, the door won't be locked closed on you.

1999 Ford Explorer Door Locks

Unfortunately, This is a very common problem with Ford Explorers! Ford replaces the locks when it encounters this issue. I managed to unseize my passanger door and tailgate lock, but the drivers door lock is broken beyond repair. You can purchase new remotes for your explorer and program them very easily. Just google ford key fobs...
