Question about 1999 Volvo S70
I brought my daughters Volvo in for an emissions test. They bring it out 10 minutes later and the driver's side window stops working (the guy who conducted the test lowered the window). I can't imagine anything they did during the test to cause this, but it was working perfectly before hand. Any suggestions as to what might have caused it and any insight into troubleshooting it?
Actually yes, it is a known flaw with these model Volvo's. The backplate under the buttons in the master window switch is made of plastic. Over time it wears out and snaps. When it snaps, the windows will no longer go up or down as the contacts do not touch anymore.
Simple solution is to buy a new Master window switch. Should cost about $200.
