Question about 1995 Buick Park Avenue
I have 1995 Buick Park Avenue and when I drive the car the heater comes on and works after about 5 minutes or so. But what happens when I stop and shut off the car to say run into a store for a few minutes when I come out and start the car up the heater starts to blow cold air. It usually takes a couple of minutes for it to get hot again. Is this normal for this car? It just kind of irritates me when it does this.
The cooling thermostat may be failing since this customarily diverts hot water to the heater core first to give a faster response.
That isn't an expensive or difficult job to replace it so I would start there.
If the system is going to be opened anyhow, I suggest you flush the system first.
That may even solve the problem.
Coolant will be lost in the replacement so catch as much as you can to avoid having someone's pet lap up the stuff and die.
