How difficult? Open your hood, see all the things on the front of the motor where the belts are? All that, plus some things on top of the motor has to come off. Still think this is something you would want to try for your first time?

check your power steering: for leaks and also the tightness of the belt. More then likely the belt or the pulley on the power steering is the problem, Tim

Do you have to take off the front end to replace the timming belt

No you don't, but it's quite a job to change the belt. For more information and a do-it-yourself-guidance (don't start unless you know what you're doing !) please refer to:

Remove and replace timming belt on lanos sx 1598cc 1998 thank you

First remove head and fix the bent valves. I have worked at a Daewoo dealer. People would buy the belt and come right back to get valves and gaskets. Daewoo timing belts must be replaced every 60,000 miles.

I need to replace my water pump

1 of 2 places , check to see if its running on your fan belt. if so its easy to replace. if you cant see it it means it located @ the timing belt, you will have to remove the timming cover and the timming belt, if you are willing to do so I can assist but it is difficult if you have no experiace. Why do you want to replace what seems to be the problem?

The timing belt runs from the crankshaft pulley up to the head, around the cam gears, back down, over the water pump and back to the crankshaft. Timing belt replacement is a job that is time consuming, and, at times, difficult. If you do not have the proceedure, I can send it to you, but, this is a very specific job, and having the belt incorrect in any one of 6 possible "mistake" positions will result in a no-start or run poor condition. Timing belt replacement for that vehicle is recommended at 90,000 miles.

Timming belt

be careful doing this. you have to line up the gears rightit is not a job for a novice but check out and they will have data on how to do this job. if your vehicle has a lot a miles on it you should also change the front engine seals at the same time. also youtube might have a vedeo on this
