I woul dcheck all the connections .. clean them good using a small wire brush .. but it sounds like if your battery is checking out good and it starts with a jump or push .. you have a loose or dirty connection.

Has this helped? If so I would appreciate a FixYa .. Thanks .. Crayz

Hi if you can get to the starter you can check the wires on it to make sure their not loose and if you have to you can take a screwdriver and with the switch on find the solinoid on the side of the starter and with the screwdriver touch the small wire and the big wire and this will engage the starter and crank the van. Hope this helped

Hi

something is draining the battery, I would check the earth wire from the battery "black one" ensure this has a good contact with the van body. Is this a UK version of the transit? if so the battery is under the drivers seat. Fords have lots of issues with poor earth wores.

Dan

Mercedes vito 110cdi starter motor problems. only when the van

Hi as it starts with a jump start, i would rule out a starter motor problem, i am taking it that what you mean by a jump start is your using a donor battery rather than pushing the van, so possible causes are (1) battery discharging due to a light left on, or the alarm system draining the battery or something similar, (2) alternator not charging the Battery, when you turn the ignition key does the ignition light come on, does it go off when the engine starts?

Van wont start

I had a similiar problem recently. The car would not start and no sign of life no lights etc. I jump started it acouple of times but then even this did not work. It would jump start but right after the cables are disconnected it would stop. We checked the battery it was good. Turned out it was the alternator. It was not working properley so the system was not charging itself or even when it starts was not generating enough energy to keep it going. Changed the alternator, never had the same problem again. You can have your battery and alternator checked at an autozone shop for free.
