I worked at a large cu mine and asked the light duty mech for his veiws on the powerstroke as that is what we bought for pickups and he told me honestly the ones he wasn\'t working on he was ripping out and replacing under warrentee said the old 7.3 was a good engine but the powerstroke was a piece

Three times the power? HOW DID "YOU" GET SO BRAINWASHED? They have almost the same torque and horse power with 1/3 less weight, and 3 to 8 mpg better. Without the extra turbo...nufsaid...

I agree W/You, but chk out the weight! I believe the cummins is much heavier than the power stroke & Duramax! The cummins is a truck eng/lots of iron/ built to last!

Dodge 3500 w Cummins,Does not get hot when towing or going down the road. Water temp goes up when moving in slow traffic or stopped, idleing, AC stops Don't think clutch fan is locking in

Hi Claire:
I think I would tend to agree with you.
Seems that the logical thing to do would be to get the problem checked before any engine damage happens.
Cheers

Is there a dodge cummins diesel engine?

From 1989 til now Dodge has put a Cummins Diesel in their 2500 and 3500 pick ups. Here is a link to a great article that explains all the different motors and stuff.

Although you didn't mention it, the speedometer probably bounces also. Replacing the speed sensor on the side of the transmission should solve both your problems. Good luck

Do you think asking 12,000 dollars for a truck is too much??

Too much milage, In my opinion. You will start experiencing problems eventually. You can but a newer model truck for that amount of money. Of course you can do what you want. But Dodge is known to have constant problems with the transmission. I have experienced this with people that I know.Your vote would be appreiciated. If this helps.
