If the heat resistors your talking about are located in the blower compartment, they are used to allow the blower fan motor to run different speeds. The motors were 1 winding motors, and to get the 3 or 4 speeds, they used the wire wound resisters in series. In order to keep them cooled off, GM stuck them in the blower compartment.

Is there a way to test the blower resistor on a chevy colorado pick up?

Sure.
You can take a volt-ohm meter and check the resistance between the terminals after you remove it from the truck. Each resistor wire should have some resistance.

I have a 1971 Chevy stepside pick up with the drivers side tail light broken off. How do you remove the old on?

If it is bolted to a bracket, just take the nuts lose and it should come off. If the bracket is broke, see if it is bolted to the truck or welded.

Adjust valves on 1971 chevy 350

either the intake is sucking oil from the bottom of the manifold, very common, other is the rings are gone, also very common, lighterr oil usage is a valve stem seal issue. the valves are hydraulic and unless u are installing new rocker arms require no adjustment.

Heater resister

I don't know the science of it,but I know the symptoms when they go bad. The blower only works on one speed, usually high, until it gets replaced.
