Question about 1998 Ford F150 Regular Cab

1998 Ford F-150 4-wheel drive won't engage

I have an electronic engaged four wheel drive on my truck and it was working fine and then recently when i kick it in it says on the dash that it's kicked in, but it's not actually kicking in on the truck itself. It stays in 2 wheel drive all the time. Same problem on a 1998 F150. Had the acutator replaced about 2 months ago and have used the 4WD since. Now it is not working again.

Chuck943, I clicked on the link to the diagram but photobucket says it was moved or deleted. Could you Please repost.

I have a 1998 f 150 4x4 and four wheel drive wont engage no lights either

Have an assistant, lie SAFELY under the truck with a small hammer and GENTLY tap the motor on the 4X4 unit while you engage and disengage the 4X4 switch. Key on engine off in Park with foot brake set and brake pedal depressed.

I have a 2004 f 150 the four wheel drive will not completly engage

you have a switch on the side of the transfer case and you have a actuator in the differential front end if you dont use your four wheel drive often that can be a problem if you have no reason to use it stil once every three months engage your four wheel drive and ride around your neiborhood sometime the switches get stuck tap on those if that doesnt help loosen them up replace them

Ford 4-wheel drive help

This is for 4x4 shifter on the floor.
In the front of the truck on the axle there's a plastic cover with 2 10mm bolts remove it and spray down the shifting actuator it operates on vacuum. You might have to pull it in four wheel and check to see if the vacuum pod is engaging the shift lever on the axle. Then again you might have to replace it very easy to do. But I would spray it down with some WD-40 it should work.

I have a 1994 ford f150, my 4 wheel drive keeps trying to engage by itself even without me touching the automatic hub button....at time you can even hear it engaging and disengaging by itself, the low range light even comes on (dimly)...what could be the cause? the transfer case motor looks good and so does the wiring.

Four wheel drive won't work

The motor for the four wheel drive engagement on the transfer case is notorious for sticking, try pulling it out and then operating to see if it works.
