The batt went flat on my rover 216 p reg.Ive put a new one on but now when i put the ignition on it makes a two tone buzzing.I think this has something to do with factory fitted immobilizer-alarm.I only have one key and its not the fob type.Is there something stupid i have to do like click the key 10 times, lock the doors then climb out back window or something like that,Or is there anyway i can bypass it.Any help will be gladly welcomed.thanks.neil

Re: rover 216 wont start
Unlock your car with the key, put the key in the ignition switch, remove one of the battery terminals now switch the ignition to the running position then put the battery terminal back on this will bypass the rovers immobiliser and alarm system

try turning the engine over by hand do it without the ignition on. see how hard it is to turn. turn it a few times then try to start with starter motor. if still will not turn check the starter motor is engaging. check wiring and make sure there is a good earth.
probly need a new batt if over 3 yrs--it has scewed ur computer up--do a tuneup-chec plug wires-clean throttle area-test alternator now cause a bad batt cant ruin it--also inspec trans fluid etc-get a haynes manual at parts place
I have replace the ignition switch itself in Hondas that had starting problems. The switches were worn out.My idea is maybe they use a simular switch. Unfortunatly I think the last one I bought was like $55.00 retail. If you do a ignition switch make sure you disconnect the battery first.
I hope this info helps.
Look in this direction. You have solved the possible issues with the starting, now move on to checking your fuel and transmission. I suggest you look at the wires coming off the transmission first, then check to see if the TBI or carb are dry i.e. no fuel. The sound you could be hearing is your fuel pump or a normal sound coming from the starter switch. If you can give me more detail. I may be able to help more. firstname.lastname@example.org
The honda engine in the rover suffered from the amplifier module in the distributor going faulty. Remove dist cap ans rotor arm, underneath you will see a small square box with 5 wires onto it, if i remember, its held in with 2 screws. remove this and replace with new .
