This could be due to heat buildup in the starter. Your local auto parts store most likely offers an insulation material to place between the engine and the starter.

95 grand am transmission worrks fine in reverse and first gear. It will let me shift manualy to second and drive without problem. It wont let me start in drive.

no auto will start in drive as there is a safety lock out requirement. You have to be in park or neutral to start.. If you are talking about when you select drive nothing happens then check for fault codes for a faulty solenoid

My 2005 pontiac grand am is having trouble starting sometimes. When I turn the key, I hear a humming noise and I know it will start, but when i dont hear it the car wont start. The security light comes on...

my guess is that your fuel pump is giving up on you. try hitting your gas tank on those days that wont start, best if you have somebody help you do it while the other try starting it

95 pontiac grand am 2.3 wont start when warm ive replaced the coils the coil housing and the ignition module it still wont start until it sits for a few hours sometime it needs to sit over night please...

It's either a cracked crank position sensor, or the starter. Start by removing the crank position sensor and checking it. It is located somewhere on your engine block.

I have this weird issue with my 92 pontiac grand am se. it will start fine wheen i leave home i drive a few miles to the store turn off and when i come back in 1/2 hr or so i try to start it but the engine...

You might have trouble on your fuel pump motor or on security system (passkey-II)

1.If the car wont start, kindly check the fuel pressure it should be 41-47 PSI
2. Also check the telltail messege of security system it should on for 3-5 seconds only after ignition on.

95 grand prix wont start after engine warms up

Sounds like a hot soak issue with the starter.I bet the starter needs replacing. The only other cause I can think of is maybe the starter lost a heat shield. I am not sure, however, if it actualy has one as OEM or not.
