Question about 1986 Subaru Gl 2 Door
Where is the fuel pump located on a 1984 Subaru Gl This is a wagon model and is not Turbo. 2 wheel drive only. I do not know if these additional details make any more difference but they are what they ask you in the auto shop when you are buying parts.
I have a 1984 Gl Wagon 4WD; the fuel pump is located on the passenger side, on the frame rail under the back door, just in front of the rear wheel. It and the fuel filter are accessed by dropping the mounting plate that also serves as a protective plate. Again, this is the 4WD non-turbo EA81 engine GL Wagon; could be different on the 2WD version.

1984 ,its a classic ,is it carb or fuel injection?? should imagine its carb for that age so most likely a manual pump driven from the engine ,if following the fuel line back you should find it .If no manual pump on engine then an external electric fuel pump mounted ?? possibly at back by fuel tank ,if you keep following fuel line and still cant find it then look at how many wires on sender unit in fuel tank .Four wires means its inside fuel tank two of these wires will be thiucker than the other two
