Airbag light continues to flash

Last week I noticed that the airbag started flashing. Does anyone know what this might mean, whether its an easy job I can fix myself or am I going to have to take it somewhere to get it fixed properly. Cheers

There are sensors in the seats of some vehicles if these go bad it will cause this if this is the problem it can be a bit costly so i would call a toyota dealer ask for service department and ask if some one could give you possible simptoms ont your model vehicle

A: When the airbag is lit, the system is inactive. Should you get in a front end crash, the airbag/s will not deploy leaving you unprotected. I would call the dealer and ask them to run your vehicle's VIN through their system. It could be that there was a recall for the safety restraint system on your car in which case the repair will be free of charge to you. If there are no recalls and no warranty coverage for safety restraint systems, (sometimes there is extended coverage on such systems) then take it to a qualified shop if you're more comfortable with that. Just make sure before you go to the shop that they have the scan tool and software to tap into the safety restraint module for diagnostics. Usually a lit airbag can be attributed to faulty wiring, crash sensor behind the front bumper, bad connection between the airbag and lower part of the steering column, or a faulty airbag module. A qualified shop should be able to track this down for you. If you're not sure where to go to find such a shop, call AAA and ask them for a AAA Certified Repair Facility in your area

SRS light is on

n most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for 6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag lights system. When the light is on( or the tone is sounding), the airbag will not deploy, even in an accident.
The flashing light on your car is telling there is a problem. On some vehicles require a OBD2 code scanner for the diagnosis. Once you know the code, you can most likely repair it yourself. There are fairly easy procedures that most people are capable of repairing.

Airbag light flashing 4-2code dont know what it means or whats wrong, do you or anyone know what it means?

Flash Code 42 is for the driver's airbag circuit. Most common problem is with the clock spring or another term is the sliding contact. This is not something you should mess with if you dont know what your doing. As testing wrong can set off the airbag. If you choose to take it apart look for a bad connection, maybe just a wire popped off behind the bag but again caution as these are very dangerous 200 mph deployment! It can kill.

Flashing airbag warning light

Ken,
This is a common problem. I have a similar issue with my 92 Miata. I currently have a 10 code problem with my airbag.
You can see the codes and what they mean at:

Hope that helps.

Airbag light on instrument panel flashes then stays illuminated

Some vehicles you can disconnect the battery for 10-20 mins and it usually resets a check engine light. But the airbag light is different. This means there is something wrong with the airbag system and it will not go out until maintenance.
