Question about 1999 Chevrolet Express
I have a 1999 Chevy Express Van. The 2nd side door will not open - the one on the right (the first one you open) does open but the one on the left does not open.
Thanks for your help!
You need to replace the handle itself. The inside of the handle where the metal cable fitting attaches causes too much strain on the plastic and the molded groove breaks. Ford has the same problem. I don't know why these car man. dont just go back to all metal exterior handles. If you have time you can probably fix it with epoxy and washers, but the fastest way is to get one aftermarket or from a junkyard. Hope this answers your question.
Please remember to rate this fix.

Hinges are welded on . A body shop or DIY: Hinge pin
w/grease nipple. Is best long time solution.

I have had the same problem for the past couple of years. I have been able to use 3 in 1 oil and keep working the door open and closed. Since it happend the first time I have continued to oil and work it in every 4-6 months so it doesn't get stuck again. You can also blow it out once it gets enough oil in it and you'll probably see a lot of rusty colored oil.
