Question about 2000 Chevrolet S-10

Horrible Gas Mileage

I have a 2000 chevy s-10 4.3 V6. Up until 6 months ago i was getting roughly 450km to a 70L tank of gas. Now i am getting 280km to a full tank. I have changed my wires, plugs, rotor & cap, pcv valve, air filter, oil, oil filter, checked tire pressure, cleaned air sensor. I am running out of ideas for such dramatic poor mileage. PLEASE HELP

I haven totally ruled out leaks. I haven't physically had the truck on ramps to do a proper inspection of the lines. However i do not notice any marks on the pavement when i park or notice any smell of gas in or around my truck. The service engine light has never been on since i have owned the vehicle for the last 3 years. I will get under it this week and hopefully i will find a leak so i can stop pulling my hair out and dropping all my cash into disappearing gas. Now i also did all my u-joints a few months back in my drive train. There were 5 in total. Truck still drives and runs smooth would that have anything to do with it maybe extra drag on the engine??

    Thanks.

I assume you have you ruled out leaks. It doesnt take much of a leak to cut your fuel milage in half.

Beyond that, has the service engine light been on at all?

    Let me know.

I would change the fuel filter and i would take a flashlight and to make sure none of my fuel injectors are leaking and i would also put the car on ramps and put something behind the rear wheels and check all of my gas lines under the car as while.

Misfire is caused by spark plugs, coil packs (if you have them), possibly wiring issues.
Don't you have long, long warranty on that car?

White smoke and foam in the gas tank indicates antifreeze leaking into the engine somewhere. Do you smell antifreeze? You may have an engine seal leaking, most likely head gasket. It may be affecting the various engine sensors.

P0183 code whats the solution to this code as the vehicle is consuming a lot of gas

looks like p0180-p0184 deal with right fuel bank sensor the down side is explorers only get about 400-450km per tank here on the west coast with all the hills and if you have the 4.0 ltr v6 it is a gas pig of a V6 so as a ford guy start with plugs n wires ect all filters ect that would be a start

94 4.3 vortec getting horrible gas mileage why???

Go to You Tube Video to find the problems
with that motor & the solution
A local repair shop can check bulletins in their
data base for the fix also
Most likely intake gasket,if you use Dex Cool
It eats gaskets & the vehicle is old ,so you can expect
to be constantly working on it

Why is my 2002 Chevy Cavalier horrible on gas? I am only getting 17 miles to the gallon. I have a CNG tank but no filling station close by. Could the weight of the tank be affecting my gas mileage?

Cars are just like airplanes. Weight will always have an effect on fuel milage. Check your tire inflation. We find, in our shop , that low tire inflation in the biggest cause of poor milage. (beside a lead foot like mine)

Rough idling, poor gas milege

Usually the rotten egg smell is a clogged CAT. Is the engine light on and if so did you retrieve any codes?

2000 blazer runs rough after gas tank was overfilled

there is a vapour purge line from the tank to a charcoal cannister. The line& cannister has been contaminated with liquid gas. When the engine attempts a normal purge from cannister it gets loaded with raw gas, causing rough running and cherck engine light. Replace cannister. Never over fill gas tank, especially on hot sunny days
