All light bulbs burn out again and again, how to fix this.

I have 2001 cavalier and everytime i replace my front and back lights they burn out within 3-4 days. Its not the fuse, i think. What can i do to fix this issue. Should i go and get the electircal checked out?

Check the battery voltage with the engine running at idle and at 2000 RPM. Voltage should not exceed 13.6 volts. To burn out bulbs the alternator would have to run at 15 + volts to fatigue bulbs. If the voltage is high, investigate charging system.
Let me know.

You will need a voltmeter. You can go to your local Auto Zone or Advanced Auto and they usually offer a free charging system test. If you have a favorite repair shop, they can do the test also.

When the battery voltage is checked with the voltmeter and the voltage is too high, as described in the previous comment, you may have an alternator problem and possible alternator replacement.

    Good luck.

    Regards.

My brake lights and rear blinkers are not working, I checked light bulbs (tail lights work) and fuses. what next

typically with gm the brake light and turn signals work on the same filament, so just because the tail lights come on does not mean that the bulb is not burned out. try simply replacing the bulbs.

Have 2001 Cavalier, everything works on the back except the brake lights. The center lights still works, though. Have replaced the bulbs and fuses with no sucess

Check for corrosion in the light sockets. Also make sure the base of the bulb is not melting around the contacts. I cleaned out the sockets with electrical contact cleaner. And when i replaced the bulbs i put Di-electric grease on the base of the bulb. So far so good

Huh? First time BOTH ends being BUSTED? U mean a rear tail light bulb when replace, FRONT HEADLiGHTS burn? Either u got overcharging of ELECTRiCiTY by ur alternator that kept busting those BULBS? Have ur car check by an auto electrician before everything burns! Taah!

hi it sounds like you have blown light bulbs and or blown fuse. there is a fuse for the blinkers and your brake lights in your fuse pannel.

If new bulbs don't work, it is probably the harness that holds the bulb. I had to replace both on my car after fighting with the problem for over a year and not knowing.

No rear brake light / turn signals on 2001 Chevy Cavalier

The problem is the turn signal/headlight/hazard switch assembly on the steering column which the brake light wiring runs through. The part is easy to change and cost about $50 at most parts stores
