You don't say which engine and if it's the turbo as in 2.3T or 2.4T make sure the pipe from the turbo to the hot side is connected properly and clamped down or your car woul run like crap if it even would run at all !!! Also check all vacuum lines for leaks common problem easy fix but will stir up Gremlins in the meantime !!!
The S 40 came with different size and spec engines and they were not all Turbo charged versions. The choice of engines available depends on which country you are in.
The turbocharger is driven by the engine's exhaust system and runs continuously but has minimal affect at low engine RPM. Unless the turbo has failed, you should feel the turbo effect kick in when you accelerate hard but there will be a brief lag .
If you have the turbo engine fitted to your 2002 model S40 you will have a " 1.9T " badge on the rear of your car under the S40 badge. The "T" designates Turbo. An engine designator badge without a "T" indicates it is not turbocharged.
The turbochargers on these S40 models will fail (especially if the car has done a lot of miles) so you should have your car examined if you feel the turbo is not functioning.
It looks easy for the 940 but I am not sure about the 940 turbo, as maybe some of the turbo parts are in the way. I'm not sure about that, since there is no documentation on the turbo model vs. the 940 standard model.
If you can follow the following instructions, then I would give it a whirl.
Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery.
Disconnect the leads from the starter motor.
Remove the starter motor retaining bolts.
Remove the starter motor from the vehicle.
Position the starter motor to the flywheel housing.
Apply locking compound to the bolt threads and install the retaining bolts finger-tight.
Tighten the bolts to approximately 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
Connect the starter motor leads and the negative battery cable.

with the little research i've done including looking up the part. which only lists one being before the catyilitic converter (uptream) and the fact that your car being 1994 with obd I emission controls (obd II reqiures two - 1 upstream and 1 downsteam), i'm making an educated guess that it only has one O2 sensor
All S70's have a 2.4 liter. There should be a numbers like 2.4 or 2400cc or something like that. The 7th and 8th vin digit is the engine. 55 is a B 2454 S engine. If unsure call the dealer parts dept and they can tell you, based on the VIN number.

There are 3 engine choices in the 98 volvo v70. All are 5 cylinders, 1. 2.3L turbo 2. 2.4L MFI DOC 3.2.4L Turbo #2 is the most common engine for that year and model. If your engine doesn't have a turbo, that's the one u have.
