2003 audi A4 2.0, low idle, flashing yellow light on dash

Hi, a yellow light on the dash (shape of a motor) keeps flashing and the car is shaking and sounding sick. Seems to lose power when accelerating and the idle is low to a point where it has stalled at traffic lights. Could it juts be the oil level? Has only done 40,000km but due for a service. Any ideas?

The blinking light is the "Check Engine" light (CEL), and when it's blinking, it is an indication that there is a major fault in the engine and associated systems (whereas a solid CEL indicates there is a problem, but to you've got some time to seek seek repair.).

It's a coil- these are commonly going out on audi's...it happend to me. it's like you are running on 2 cylinders instead of 4- you need to get it replaced- it's about 75 bucks.

The coil packs are on recall now. Take it to a dealer and they'll replace them for free. The problems will disappear.

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one of it’s components or sensors it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you should have the car diagnosed and repaired. If the light is flashing it is not wise to drive the car until you get it repair or you can cause more problems.

Mazda tribute 2003 with 106,000 miles enging light flashing the car shakes when idlle and lwoers when driving

If the check engine light is flashing you should probably get it scanned to see which coil(S) need replacing. When the light flashes it means that something is seriously wrong. STOP driving. If you continue to drive it will melt your catalytic converters. I have had customers that get the misfire issues repaired and come back maybe a month or two later with burnt converters. Converters are not cheap either.

Light on the dash comes on and off the light is yellow and on right hand side shaped like watering can

It could be the low oil pressure warning light. That light looks like an oil can with one drip of oil on the tip.
If that is the light it is telling you the oil pressure in the engine is low.
You might want to check with a dealer to make sure if you don't have an owners manual.

Sounds like your ignition coils are going on you... but fortunately Audi has a voluntary recall for these on your car model, and will replace them for you free of charge. Contact your local Audi dealer, and they should take care of this for you!
