It is a 2005 Dodge Dakota. I cannot get the tailgate to open. The latch will not come out when I pull on it. I can hear the tailgate unlatch but then I cannot get the latch to come out all the way.

You can access it from the inside of the tail gate, there is a plate directly on the other side of the handle,Just take that plate off and reattach the rod mount or replace the handle if it's broken.

Be pushing & pulling on thr tailgate while pulling the latch. It should open. When you get it open, soak it down on the latch pins on the sides, & the latch handle itself with WD-40. This should solve the problem. Also the latch pins, put some wheel bearing grease on the latch pins and the connors where the pins connect.

Is there a way to unlock the rear door of a 2004 jeep liberty from the inside

If you hit the unlock button in the door 2 times, it should unlock the tailgate. Otherwise you may have to go back to the dealership and have them program a new remote for you. If the battery in your remote went dead, it may work again by replacing the battery.

I wound the tailgate window up while the door was open. Now it wont go down and I cant close the door.

put the doorlocks on the side of your tailgate into the locked position, then you will be able to retract the window. Once that is done, grab a screwdriver and unlock those locks so you can close the tailgate.

Lock on Tailgate will not release

Try checking that the handle in the tailgate returns to the 'open' postion. Once in a while, usually during/after the winter, the tailgate handle gets stuck in the 'pressed in' postion. I have to use WD-40 or some other lubricant to get the handle working again, which allows me to unlock and open the tailgate.
