Window regulator

You start by removing the door panel, then you will have access to the whole inside of the door. There you will need to locate the motor which is usually closer to the front of the car (or near the door hinges/ speaker). You will need to find the plug to the motor and unclip it. Next you will need to remove the window (because there is never enough room to work in the small access holes that they give you) which is held onto the track by two bolts/clamps, then proceed to remove the motor which is attached to the window track section. So once you have removed the window track mechanism with the motor attached you will notice that there are rivets from the factory holding it in place . Which entails you drilling out the rivets to be able to remove the old motor, then once removed, you will need to reattach the new motor with little bolts or re-rivet it back together. Note: you need to make sure that there is no play/slop in the new motor when it is reattached or the gears will become stripped/eaten by the motor. Then reassemble working from removal to reinstalling. Be sure to check new motor by plugging it in before complete assembly, you will need to adjust it in order to reattach window and to get the mechanism back in the tracks. Take caution not to pinch your hands/arm while adjusting motor to allow lining up of window and tracks. Best of luck

Manual windows on 1998 Pontiac grand am keep coming off track

I've noticed the grease in the manual and electric regulators over time will dry out causing excessive wear in the "scissor" joint in these cars throwing window out of track. (I think gradual excessive force required accelerates wear) With window partially up check for excessive lateral play in the very center pivot point. Also check for loose mounting rivets and replace. If not too worn and loose rivets were found you may be able to clean and liberally grease assembly...otherwise replace the regulator.

Glue windows

the glass in the door window is not normally glued in the regulator track but is pressed in the rubber with the use of soap which dries out and that means that the pressure of the metal is what holds the glass in place. There will be difficulties if the window guides are incorrectly adjusted and the glass is allowed to go up an angle instead of straight up.. Normally the track at the back of the door is fixed and the front track is adjustable to hold the glass correctly

My window on my Buick lesabre 2001 is off track or something

Go to chevy dealer or autozone, ect... and ask them to show you a new window gear. Point is to find out if it's a plastic gear. I don't remeber off top of my head. But, sounds like the switch & motor is working fine. Also possible if it uses "old style regulator" that the drive gear has a worn tooth, too much wear in the bearing plate, or that a track roller has slipped out of the track due to wear.

Drivers side window seems to be off track and i dont know how to get into the door to repair it.

You would need to remove the door panel to access your window track. There are plastic expansion pins which hold the door panel in place. There is a tool specifically designed for this it looks like a screwdriver with a v center, slide this tool under the pin and push down on the handle and it will pop the pins out. You may need to unhook or remove your master control unit that operates your power doors/window etc in order to have enough room to access window track. There are little cheap crappy plastic guides which hold the window in place which break quite frequently you can get those from the dealer cheap (they are always in stock). Remove those guides and install the new ones and you'll be good to go

Window away from track

there is a plastic retainer that is attached to the window glass that holds it into the track if the window was frozen shut or pushed downward this clip is very easy to break and the window will not follow the track, this clip is fairly cheap but requires a bit of window epoxy to secure the new guide clip to the window. It is fairly easy to fix.I hope this helped good luck.

The driver's side power window is skipping or

Most likely the rail has come loose inside the track you can drill a hole and put a #20 nut and screw in it to hold it tight so it won't move the track is the most common thing to wear out on the window. once you repair it it should be fine check all four corners the most common break is in the lower right side looking at the door with it open. Also the track will come loose as well and that can cause you the same problem, with the cover off the door operate it so you can determine which area it is jumping from and then fix it. also lube the tracks with synthetic grease to keep it from being hard to roll up also lube the rollers in the bottom of the track.

2004 vw beetle convertible - the inside of the convertible top near the back window has a "casement" along the edge of the fabric top that seems to attach or slide into a track near the window. mine has...

That happened to me. I tried to re-insert the window into the track but it was impossible. The dealer ordered some clips and I think I paid about $50 to have it fixed.

Window came off track nad wont roll up

you will have to remove the door panel and try to lift the window back up, have a look while holding the window up and see if the bolt/rivet holding the window onto the motor has just come loose or broke. Its quite possible its still bolted up to the assembly but the regulator has broken resulting in the window motor not being able to raise/lower window.
The regulators breaking are a common problem they have plastic usually that wears after so long.
