Installing a new cruse control switch

I asked before about the cruise control not working, the fuse is fine and when you turn it on the light comes on. When you go to set the cruise it won't engage. I believe I need a new switch. How hard is it to install the switch and can I get directions on how to get into the stearing column?

I'm not sure what to look for under the hood for the cruise control. Is there an Web site to go to for this?

My cruise control on/off switch is not latching in the on position. If I hold the switch down the cruise control will engage, as soon as I let off it, the cruise control disengages. I ordered a new switch assembly for about $30. 1) How do I get at the switch to replace it? 2) Do I need to disable the airbag?

Have you tested components under hood that may be defective, malfunctioning. or happen to become disconnected for one reason or another, before you replace switch?

Brake light switch? The cruise and brake lights problems are likely related. The cruise control cuts out when you press on the brakes. I had a van where the cruse wouldn't engage. Then someone pointed out my brake lights were always on. It was the switch.

Bummer deal! This may be a way to tell you some tail lights are burnt out. Some cruise controls have a fuse in a second location.
The fuse is not in right or is blown. Check with a new fuse. Hope this helps. ...gc http://www.auto-tune-up-and-repair-options.com/

Cruise control not working

Most common issue is the switch activated by the brake pedal to take it out of cruse jumps out of position or out of adjustment. Also has a fuse.

Where is the fuse for the cruse control on a 2003 pt cruiser

There's no individual fuse for the cruise control. If its stopped working it may be a cruise control switch or a brake light switch fault. If you have a manual gearbox, its probably a clutch pedal switch issue. Hope this helps...

the brake light switch is part of your cruise control circuit. check the adjustment. it should be threaded so that you can change the depth on it. probably not your switch at all.

Cruse control does not work

It sounds like a connection to your cruise control may have come loose and was not intentionally done by the mechcanic. I would take it back and ask him or her to take a good look again at the work he had performed and maybe it will show up in front of his face plain as day

I had the same problem with my 2003 santa fe. Do you have any brake lights out in back? Weird as it is, as soon as I fixed a burned out brake bulb, my cruise worked again. The only relation I can think of is that tapping the breaks causes cruise to turn off - so maybe a broken brake/tail light passes a singal to cruise control from some reason???
