Hi, I just received this orange symbol, it is in the shape of a triangle with the symbol representing a camping tent. I can't find this symbol in the book anywhere. The oil pressure red light comes on and then goes away after turning the engine on.
Is it in the center of the dash or in the right corner? The one on the right is for the ABS. The one in the center is a general message. Using the read function on the signal stalk there will be an explanation of the light.
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

The "leaning triangle" light is the light signifying there is a fault with the traction system (STC) a quick scan with a scan tool will tell you exactly what the fault is. The only other triangle light on these cars is the triangle with the circle and the exclamation point. Which is either Orange or Red depending on the severity of the issue. And what you described sounds like the STC light to me.
Hi, The exclamation point in triangle blinking is the "Emergency Blinker" This blinker turns on all all of the turn signal lamps at all four corners of the car. Left and Right, Front and Back. The triangle represents the European symbol for roadside emergencies. In fact on European Mercedes and other cars there is a triangle shaped reflector you can put behind the car so that other drivers know you have an emergency. THAT TRIANGLE ON YOUR DASHBOARD IS A BUTTON. PUSH IT ONCE. THE BLINKING SHOULD STOP. If you have a roadside emergency, and are broken down by the side of the rode. Push the Red Triangle and your lights will blink on and off ouTside to say, in effect "help". Hope this helps. Best, Mark
shaped dash warning icon/symbol represents the "Check Engine Light", CEL for
short. It could be because of several things that can make the light come on. Perform a scan on the car and identify the error codes . Autozone can
scan the codes for free.
Does the symbol look like an upside down y?
If so it is the lambda sign (the elleventh character of the greek alphabet), meaning that there is something fishy going on with the emissions part of the cars engine management.
Try to disconnect the battery over night and see if it goes away.
If not you could bring the car by the local Volvo garage and have them read fault codes and reset them for you, usually without cost.
I'm thinking that it might somehow have been triggered by the towing, and that it will go away when reset. I would therefore advice you not to do any repairs before you've tried having the codes cleared and driving around for a while to see if the light reappears.
1998 volvo s40 right hand drive: there is an orange triangle light with green in the center and an upside "y" in the center of the two. It is between the "up orange arrow" and "a an orange car with an X on it" the light comes and stays on. Dont know what it means. can you help. Thanks
