Question about 2001 Ford Escape
I came home last night, reversing, I tried to shift into park, and it jammed and stuck in reverse. I pressed on the brakes, and while completely stopped, I could not shift anywhere (not to neutral, not to drive, not to park). I turned the steering wheel. Turned it off, turned the key back to the on location. I couldn't get it to budge, and I didn't want to break it, so I shut it off and went to bed. Any suggestions?
I have a 2001 escape xlt this happened to me and it was the clip on the transmission linkage that was broken...pretty cheap to fix

sounds like the shift linkage has fell off
look under the hood of your car and have someone move the shifter
look for the movement and see is it is hooked up
give me feed back if this helps
