Question about 1984 Mercedes-Benz 190
I bought a new axle boot kit but when our mechanic begun to repair it, he doesn't know how to remove the velocity joint. It must be remove first before replacing a new axle boot kit. Please give me instruction. A step by step on how to replace the axle boot kit. There are some parts if we force to remove it, we might broke the velocity. Here in our place, there is no mercedez benz center. We only hire auto mechanic. But the problem is they're not familiar. We need your help. Please.
Hi, on the CV where the shaft goes into the joint there is a circlip you hace to open the clip and tap the joint at the same time to remove it, they can be a pain but thats how to get it off, refit is just put the joint on the lead of the shaft and tap it home, do not hit the threads without protecting them ie use a block of wood and hammer the wood not the joint, hope this helps you,
