Question about 1996 Toyota RAV4
The problem started today coming up the hill, the Rav 4 suddenly comes out of 4th gear and I have to shift down to 3rd in order to keep it moving. I did not try for 5th gear, because I didn't want to dog it coming up the mountain. Someone suggested possibly linkage adjustment needed? I heard something about a gear wearing down. I cannot afford some huge 2,500 bill from a dealer. There appears to be other solutions other than replacing an entire transmission (if that is what the problem is). Any suggestions or words of comfort?
I supose u are talking about a strait shift tranny if so the tranny ha shifter fork in it for the gears that is what is broke it is not 2500 dollars worth if someone told u that take it some where else check other prices
