If you have runaway reving, you probably have a clogged MAP sensor.

The over heating sounds like a blown head gasket and the reving sounds like you have a leaky intake gasket.

Why does my Accord intermittently start and die?

Look at your tachometer, it should be at least 750 RPM...if you have a manual, look for the exact Idle RPM.

If the idle speed is too slow it can cause the engine to quit, sometimes even if you just step on the brake.

Hope this helps.

Standard Shift? Clutch is Slipping

Automatic? It is coming out of gear or slipping

If it is an automatic-- you most likely will end
up having to rebuild it,if it is original since built for yr 2000

Hi, i own a honda accord 91, and its start to acelerate an deacelerate by itself, i dont have idea what could t be thaks

if when its cold and runs at a high idle like normal, and then when it reaches operating temp it starts to fluctuate in the revs. (up and down from 900 rpm to around 2500 rpm) you will find that the engine management temp sender is faulty. To ensure this is the fault. When its doing this and at normal running temp. stop the engine, Disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes. Reconnect the battery this clears all the codes stored buy the computer. Start the car while still at the normal operating temp. If the problem is gone it is the sensor i have previously stated. This sensor can be found on th back end of the cylinder head its a two wire sensor. I hope this has helped.

When turn on the car in the morning, i accelerate and the revolutions up to 6,000rpm normal. In 3 minute when the car up the motor temperature to the normal operation, i accelerate and the revolutions up...

To begin with, if you are revving a cold engine to 6000 RPM, you are asking for a blown engine. Most OBD vehicles are equipped with a rev limiter that will cut off fuel at 3000 to 4000 rpm to prevent you from over-revving your engine and blowing it up. If yours is revving to 6000 RPM cold, then the rev limiter, for some reason is not working while it is cold. I have no explaination for this. The best thing I can tell you is to stop revving your engine so high when it is cold unless you really want to see what an engine looks like after is has gone off like a grenade.

My car is honda accord coupe 1999 V4, EX. The problem is: the Mechanic could hardly start the car, and when it starts the RPM (round per minute) is very high, it's 2200 RPM.. is it caused by the ECU?

The EAVC and Idle Control Valve might be sticking. Remove air filter and pipe work, and inside the throttle body are these valves. Clean the up and reset the ECU - usually removing the negative battery lead will reset Honda's.

The ECU won't be broken or anything by the way, if that's what the mechanic was getting at.

(By the way it's Revs Per Minute RPM :)

I have a 1997 honda accord 2.2 automatic trans. the trans started slipping a couple times just for a couple seconds then it was fine, Last week on my way home I only had 1st and 2nd I made it home driving...

Check your tranny fluid I had a similer issue with a different truck and it was a clogged trans filter which caused it to pump the fluid up the dip stick I changed the fluid and didn't have an issue again until I blew the engine. So I would change that first regardless.

Possibly the oxygen sensor. Had same problem with my Accord, had oxy sens replaced and that not only fixed the problem but I got better gas mileage after that.
