88 Izusu Trooper II with 274000 miles Battery warning light comes on when first starting and running- after driving awhile, it goes off and starts charging- also during the warning period- the blower

Sounds like your battery isn't charging properly, first thing to check, is your alternator belt slipping, is it tight enough, if so does it need replacing?

Next the battery, if its over 2 years old it could be on its way out. Does it hold its charge?

Finally, Alternator, is it still providing a charge for the battery? Are all electrical connections good and clean?

Did you find out a solution to your problem? I have a 1996 trooper that is showing most of the same symptoms that you have. I'm curious as to your fix. Was it simply a bad ground?

Blower circuit not working and fuses are good

time to start looking at the conection for the alternator and all wires in the general vacinity also you might want to look at the accessory fuse pannel under the hood as you might have blowen a master bus fuse in there

I RECENTLY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR WITH A REBUILT UNIT. A MONTH OR SO LATER THE ALTERNATOR AND EMERGENCY BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF. AT AN IDLE THEY WOULD COME ON AND...

1 of the diodes may be out in that alternater. It will still put out enough power (1/2 of what it should) to keep the car running but you will have problems while driving it at night with the headlights on. I would have it checked. My last rebuilt only lasted me about a month. Its hit or miss with those rebuilds.

hi k

with the car off using a digital multimeter check the voltage output of the battery. it should be around 12.8 volts
turn on your car (if you can) and then check the voltage again it should now be around 14.6-14.8. have someone turn on the heater blower motor to high and look to see if the voltage goes down when started and then climbs back up. it should . after that with the blower still on high turn on the rear defoster and look for the same scenario. slight drop then return to around 14.5 v or higher. If the response is other than described replace the alternator.
