Need some Black Permatex Silicone also

Your going to need a puller for the bottom
crank gear

Install a double roller chain & gears,

Bad water pump

Hello: To replace the water pump on the 4cylinder engine you will need a special tool to hold the water pump drive gear. If you don't hold the water pump drive gear the balance shafts will be out of time (rough running engine) the front cover will have to be removed, the timing chain removed. BIG JOB..... This information is for the 4 cylinder engine. If you have a V/6 it's not that big of job. For the 4 cylinder it would be best to let a professional who has the special tool, do the job.

How do i change the water pump on a 97 chrysler sebring V6

Depending on the engine type this is a big job, the waterpump is driven by the timing belt and you must use caution as to engine damage may ocurr, if the timing gears are not 100% aligned when installing the timing belt heres a diagram to show you what im talking about,johnjohn2_39.jpgjohnjohn2_38.gifjohnjohn2_39.gif

Water pump leaking. This car has a 4cyl. quad motor, I hear its a big project to change the water pump. can you help?

Have to look at the new pump, some are a splined shaft that just slides on to the gear ,those are fairly easy,if the new pump has a gear on the end the whole front cover and timing chain has to come off ,big job.

Im told my car is out of timimng, but I dont know why, what could it be? It jumps and jerks when I get to 45mph and higher and it wont get any speed and jerks into gear.

Timing belt is due for replacement at 85,000 miles.

I saw folks delay the job up to 110,000 miles. (they are pushing there luck)

Without replacing the timing belt, the timing belt teeth can jump on the CAMSHAFTS.

What's your car's odometer reading now?

A timing belt and water job should be down at the same time.

This is not a DO IT YOUR kind of job.

I recommend you to stop driving the car and shop for a good local shop to inspect and replace the timing set and water pump.

Water pump needs replacement

Depends on which engine if it's the 2,2 engine fairly easy but the 2.4 is a big job Timing Cover & Exhaust Manifold Removal Required. With the 2.2 locate water pump loosen the bolts on the pulley then remove the serpentine belt. Finish removing the pulley bolts now you can get at the water pump bolts. Use a container under the car to catch the antifreeze. Remove the water pump from the engine, installing new pump in reverse order to removal.

Antifreeze leak

It could be the hose clamp if that's where is leaking from, but if the water pump has some miles on it, it could be time for a new water pump. Good luck

1993 grand marquis water pump

IF YOU PLAN TO DO THIS YOURSELF, IT'S A FAIRLY SIMPLE JOB, JUST TIME COMSUMING. FIRST THING BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE. BEG, BORROW, BUY OR WHATEVER A SHOP MANUAL ON THE 93 GRAND MARQUIS. CHILTONS OR HAYNES ARE GREAT, GET THEM AT ANY AUTO PARTS STORE. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET THEM IN TWO-THREE DAYS TOPS. THEN YOU'RE IN BUSINESS, BECAUSE THEY BOTH HAVE THE COMPLETE TEARDOWN AND REBUILD OF THE WATER PUMP WITH ALL THE TRICKS AND CHECKS TO DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME! COST ABOUT $15.00, WORTH EVERY CENT IF YOU DO THINGS YOURSELF ON THE CAR. THE BOOK GIVES PICTURES AND STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON EVERYTHING. YOU'LL LOVE IT AND FINISH THE JOB IN NO TIME AND HAVE IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. GO FOR IT! GOOD LUCK! IF YOU NEED MORE HELP,REPLY TO ARCLIGHT1217
