Question about 2001 Ford F250 Super Duty Super Cab

Ford F350 Fuel pump replaced but fuel gauge shows 1/2 tank of gas

I had tohave my 2000 Ford F350 Crew Cab towed on Christmas Eve by Triple A. The dealership was closed but the tow truck driver recommended a privat shop that he said did good work. They charged me $700.00 to change the fuel pump. When I picked up the truck the owner of the shop told me to watch the gas gauage and if it didn't operat correctlyto bring it back in. Indeed it did not work properly as it sat on empty. I filled the tank (38 gallons) twice to be sure it wouldn't correct but it didn't. I also noticed that my mileage remaining calculator kept showing about 170 mile left to go no matter how much gas was in it. Also the outside temperature guage showed the temp to be about 20 degress cooler than it actually was. I took the truck back to the shop and when I picked it up I went straight to a gas station and filled it up. The gas guage only would show just a hair above 1/2 a tank. I drove straight back to the shop and the owner assured me that it would slowly go up. I'm a nice guy and bought into it even though I knew somewhere deep down I would be back. So...before I take it back can anybody tell me what the poblem is, should I let this guy work on the truck again and did I get taken for a ride on the dollars? Appreciate any help you can give.

Has the repair guy 'monkeyed' around with your fuel pump? If the gas guage is in the tank like most of the nowadays trucks and he bent or done something wrong with the fuel pump when he had it out then I would say he should fix it the way it should be but it sounds like you were 'taken' for a 'ride' by that mechanic!

Is there a fuel filter for each tank on a 1997 F350 crew cab 4x4 with a 460

There should be one filter per tank. If there is start with changing the fuel filter in the front tank and if you are still having problems then your front fuel pump seems like it may be going out.

When ignition key is turned, most vehicles fuel pump make an audible 'hum' if they are functioning correctly. Pump may be in fuel tank making replacement a major event!

2007 F350 4x4 regular cab V10 gas guage quit working I had the sending unit and fuel pump changed the fuel guage went to 1/4 and sat there. Any tips? Fuel guage wont work.

I'm assuming this has dual tanks, do you know if it is not working on both tanks ?
Most people would check the circuit for the gauge at the tank. The sending unit grounds the gauge on the dash.

I have a 2000 F350 diesel manual trans 4X4 200,000+ miles that is having a power loss, idles fine but when you take off it starts to sputter like a gas motor with a stuck choke. Just changed the fuel...

If you changed the fuel filter 2 weeks ago, I would first verify that the fuel filter is good! Dirt from the tank could have clogged it up again.

The next suspect would be the fuel pump in the tank.

What does the vehecile act like if you rev the engine up in neutral? Does it show any signs of fuel starvation? If so concentrate on fuel system.

The fuel gauge in my 1996 ford f350 laid down and will not work. what could be the problem

99% of the time this is caused by a defective fuel gauge sending unit in the gas tank, in fact that is the only thing i have ever found wrong in my 40 years as a mechanic, 30 of which were at a Ford dealer.

The fuel pump is on top of gas tank inside, you have to lower the tank, unless is mounted on gas tank side, follow fuel lines, thy are two, one main and one return, the fuel filter is on the main under driver

1996 f350 with dual tanks

There was a recall on some of these dual tank valves. Call a dealer with your VIN number and ask if yours is involved.
