Question about 2001 Isuzu Trooper

2 Answers

Transmission problem My 2001 Trooper with AT and 4x4 has been experiencing tranny problems since before Christmas. It started with slight slipping around curves, then progressed to slipping while in overdrive. Now I'm having problems from a complete stop. out of first gear, it sounds like a manual transmission, high rpm and not much forward motion. Mileage is 99,500. I've called around and all of the local yards have them for sale used, but mileage is not much less than mine, and there is very limited warranty. What would be a ballpark price to rebuild the one in my truck now? Love the truck but I don't want to spend more than its worth to repair it.

the truck has a manual transmission. Truck is having problems engaging in first second and third gear. The rpm is high but truck speed is low. Also, there is no leaks. I am having problems locating the transmission dipstick. Problems occurs mostly in the evening after the truck has been driven and sometimes it is hot also there are time it will occur when the truck first start up. The truck keep slipping back to the previous gear.

You may want to determine if it is a mechanical or electronic problem, it could just be a bad solenoid in the transmisson or something simliar that would be a lot cheaper than buying another transmission that may or may not have been taken care of.

I have a 2001 Souza rodeo goes backwards but will not go towards I got a 2001 Isuzu Trooper goes backwards but no forwards

automatic trans or stick, we cant guess that ever.....
REVERSE OK!
drive, and Low dead. (hot and cold engine????)
so does it slip.?
slip means, you step on the gas and RPM races but car dont move. SLIPs. that is transmission
but of it dont slip that means the engine is weak..
if its slip?, check levels first.
if levels in box are ok (dont guess read how to )
then check shift linkage.
if that is ok, scan the PCM for tranny errors DTC.
if that is ok, do the FSM stated, line pressure tests..

I have a 2004 Isuzu Trooper, automatic 2wd. My transmission is slipping upon taking off. What should I do 1st?

not to sound obvious, but first check your transmission fluid level, at operating temp, engine running.

Can a 99 isuzu trooper tranny work in a 2001

search around for auto recyclers via a google search. find one with a searchable inventory, they are out there. marshall's in circleville, ohio is one. search for a transmission for a 99 isuzu trooper and for a 01 trooper transmission. if they have the same interchange part number, you are good to go. if not, you will find certainly one that is.

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 sport 4x4 and the transmission slips between first and second gear, I have replaced the filter and fluid and am still experiencing the slip, what could be the cause?

Most important is making sure the trans is full, especially after doing a
trans service, since the torque convertor needs to be under a load when filling it, to completely be full. If you had the vehicle running and shifted
it through the gears while filling it up with tranny fluid, your good, but if
not, check it again.

I have a 2001 Buick Regal and when I push on the gas the tach will almost redline and the car has no power at all! It takes awhile to get up too 55mph! Any ideas, it almost sounds like a flutter noise when...

Sounds like the trani is slipping..

Check the trani fluid while the engine is on in park after its warmed up good..

The dipstick is messured in pints - not quarts..
Dont over fill it..

This is the 3rd tranny - Exact same thing is happening.

You might try to add a transmission cooler. If its getting hot it will eat the transmission easily. time to swap it out and sell the problem to someone else.

Transmission slips

reading what your saying, the problem started when you topped up with fluid; from experience what you have done is over filled the system which can build up high pressure and burst the oil seals and contamanate the drive plate.if your happy with what youve removed it might come back ok.but i suspect burst oil seal failure causing contamanation. thanks adrian

TRANSMISSION SLIPS IN 3RD GEAR. NOT ALL THE TIME. KICKS OUT OF GEAR. WHEN I REV UP ON MOTOR SLIGHTLY IT KICKS BACK IN AND DRIVES FINE...

Its a early sign of your tranny about to go. A flush wont help so be aware. It looks like Troopers with about 100k miles are prone to this problem.
