Question about 1994 Ford Aspire

Engine cranks but will not start

Have 1994 Ford Aspire that cranks, but will not start. Just replaced spark plugs and cleaned battery. Still no luck. Don't know if it is connected, but the car's "check engine" light comes on periodically.
Any suggestions/

Cindy

Car not starting turn key nothing happens has power

Pull all the spark plugs out and make sure the engine still spins freely. Put a socket on the crank pulley bolt and turn the engine a couple of revolutions. With the plugs out, it should turn quite easily. If not, something may have seized from overheating.
If the engine turns easily, but the starter won't work, check all battery connections for being clean and tight, also the starter connections. If still nothing, have the starter tested. Any chance any of your wiring got burned or scorched from the overheated engine? You might want to check the wiring harness around where all the smoke was coming from.
Good luck. If you get the engine cranking, and still won't start, begin checking for spark at the spark plugs.

Car will crank but not start

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

My '97 ford taurus isnt kicking over while tryn to start it up

Anything done to car, or happened recently that might affect this?
If starter fluid doesn't work, and starter is cranking normally (too fast may point to a timing belt broke, too slow may mean battery run down and not producing sufficient spark), there's still a problem in your ignition. Pull a sparkplug or two. After cranking a little they should be wet with gas. Check for compression while a plug is out: hold your finger over plug hole when cranking. You should feel pressure buildup and release over and over as long as cranking.
A properly timed engine needs spark, fuel, and compression to start. Keep reviewing your procedure. Something is not right.
You may want to have the computer scanned for possible trouble codes. Check plug wires for proper routing. Were plugs gapped right?

We replaced the fuel pump in my 1994 ford escort and it still just turns over but will not start

disconnect the fuel line from the rail and turn the ignition on to see if it is indeed pumping fuel, if it squirts then the pump is working, if not then there may be an electrical fault to the pump {check fuses and relay} there may also be a blockage, check/repalce fuel filter.
remove a spark plug lead and place it near a metalic part of the engine, crank the engine and take note to see if there is a spark shooting from it while you crank.
lastly you will need to tow it to a mechanic to put the code machine on it and he may be able to tell you where the fault is. I hope this guide helps you. Good luck

1992 Ford Taurus wagon not starting, but turns over

You might have a problem with your crank sensor or ignition. Remove spark plug wire and check for spark while turning engine over. When this happens unplug crank sensor near crank pulley then plug back in to see if it starts if so replace crank sensor.

Change spark plugs and now car wont start.....1994 ford tarus

Do you have the "firing order" correct? In other words, is each spark plug wire going to the same cylinder it was on before you changed the plugs? If you have done nothing else but changed the plugs then this is the most likely problem.
If when you try to start the car it backfires through the exhaust or backfires through the intake. Then this " IS" the problem. Good luck.

89 Ford F250 won't start

To check battery you would need a multi meter to determine how much power is in the battery and how much power is being drawn off the battery when trying to start. Can you borrow a good battery? If you try to jump start the vehicle from another vehicle and engine struggles to turn over its not likely to be a battery fault but an issue with the starter motor or partialy siezed engine.Pull all the spark plugs out and see if the engine will crank over any easier. To check ignition remove spark plug, push removed plug into no.1 H/T lead and lay it on engine block(good earth)crank engine and you should be able to see good spark at spark plug end.Being unable to crank engine at proper speed will not give you proper result so cranking issue must be dealt with first.
