Most difficult is to remove the damp components, seats and carpet and put them where they can dry out.
If you have access to a good shop vacuum you can draw out most of the water from the seats and carpet and then use a small space heater inside the vehicle. You have to be careful and you want to control the heat but I've done this recently with excellent results. Just don't let your car get too hot and leave a window partially cracked to let the moisture out of the car. I did remove the passenger seat and raise the carpet off of the floor where it was damp to let the heat dry it out underneath, it took a few days since it was cold outside.
Most importantly, find the leak and fix it, until then keep the car covered.
sounds to me the hissing is the sound of a leaking heater core. Its smells weird becuse coolent usually has a sweet smell that is very noticeable. I bet the floor is wet/carpet damp in the front near the hissing. I bet your coolent level is low as well. Replace heater core.
when you operates the heater button worm water of your engine's water jackets enter to the evaporator locates inside your A/C blower & air flows through it & air becoming worm. Therefore I proposed you to check your vent linkages for vent doors inside the blower unit.
I have one of these, it did the same thing. I found the sun roof seal had gone hard ( due to the u.v from the sun ) and was not sealing properly. Th drain hose from the cavity was blocked, the water ran down the door pillar and on to the fire wall and out behind the carpet. Allso if the air conditioning condensation collector drain is blocked water will find its way the the carpet. the drain should empty to the ground.
Hey Marcel,
Does the liquid smell funny? Sounds like the heater core is leaking... get the engine warm, then turn the heater wide open - hot as possible- and see if the liquid reappears ,, if it does,, you need to get the heater core repaired or replaced.
were your heater control panel is at the back of the truck(if you have controls in the rear of the truck)is where the heater core is behind the the cover and the hoses connect under the van to the heater core.i`m assuming this is an 8 passenger van with carpet and rear seats.
Most likely a bad heater core. It's behind/under the dash. There should be two hoses that go into the firewall under the hood. These carry and return warm coolant to the heater core. The blower motor blows across the heater core and pushes the warm air into your car. Try feeling the carpet under the dash on the passenger side. See if it's damp. Many times if the core starts leaking, your carpet will be damp over there. I've also seen them completely plugged up with dust/dirt/debris/insects, so the air wouldn't flow through it from the fan.
The hot floor is the catalitic converter. It may be bad, but you need to find out why it got hot. usually lean codes will be present with this problem. could be a bad vacuum leak. mass air flow sensor could be bad. as far as the water being a 2006 I do not think it is the windshield, probably the drain is plugged up for your a/c look under the hood, passenger side, there should be a tube that hangs down around where the a/c lines go in to cabin. you can try to back flush it or run something up in it to free it up. good luck
Yes it is a heater core leak, here is how to change it.
Remove battery cables. you have to remove the upper dash pad on this paticular year model. with a 10 mm socket and a 1/2 inch extension remove the 5 retaining bolts. remove the blower assembly under the passenger side of dash. remove passenger side seat and center counsole. drain radiator. disconnect hoses from now exposed heater core. turn it 180 degrees and slide out. Replace in reverse order.
