Question about 1993 Saab 900
I have a 93 900s in which the cruise control works occasionally. The resume function does not seem to work at all. (I recently bought the car) Sometimes when the cruise is working it will suddenly turn off as if I had hit the brakes. I can't tell if it is a mechanical issue or an electrical one, or if the stalk switch is worn out or what? After switching off spontaneously I am unable to reset it. There is no rhyme or reason to this problem that I can detect so far. Thanks
The problem most likely is with the cruise control computer (ECU) and the fix is to replace it with an older version. I had the same problem and tried replacing other parts and even replacing the ECU with a rebuilt one of the same vintage as the 1993 model. I had the ECU replaced with the previous version at a Saab specialist and it now works all the time. There is a difference in the connections between the different year ECUs that requires some rewiring - you can find rewiring information on the internet.
